Dewsbury and Batley Netball Finals 2017

21st March 2017

Following the Year 6’s triumphant win at the SJF Netball Finals, they proceeded to the Dewsbury and Batley Finals.

The field was much more competitive this time round and the team pulled out some fantastic individual and whole team performances.

Tense times followed at the end of the tournament as two teams had placed second with joint points – ourselves and Windmill.  Windmill went through to the Kirklees Finals in Huddersfield with Batley Grammar as they had a larger goal difference.

St Patrick’s came third in the event and took home a bronze medal each – well done to Roza, Matilda, Liberty (c), Aaron, Chloe G, Violet, Fern and Elise and thank you to Faith, Aimee and Lucy for all your hard work at netball training this year.

Great defensive effort from Matilda and Violet in the first half!

Game 2

           5-1

A third and final win came against a competitive Birstall Primary side.  Goals came from Liberty, Aaron and Elise to secure victory for St Patrick’s in the tournament.

The team will now proceed to the second round at Batley Sports Centre at the end of the month.  They will compete against winners from the Batley and Dewsbury area with the chance to compete in the Kirklees Finals in Huddersfield.

SJF Netball Finals, Batley Sports Centre - 15/3/16

The Year 6 netball team won the tournament and came top of their group, winning all four of their matches against tough opposition.

Winning team:

Shauna           Harry A

Saskia             Harry H

Evie                Daniel

Olivia

St Patrick's vs Batley Grammar

                       2 - 1

After a shaky start, a good shooting partnership was formed between Evie and Daniel after a tense and goal less opening half.  Shauna grew in confidence and performed well at GD whilst Harry A and Harry H both played well at GK, making it difficult for their opposition to score - well done!

St Patrick's vs Ravensthorpe

                    3 - 0

The team began to 'settle in' to their roles on the court and Saskia performed well at GS supported by Harry A at GA.  Olivia played a good supporting role at C and tried her best to get the ball around the court quickly against an organised Ravensthorpe side.

St Patrick's vs Orchard

                   3-1

As the bitter cold started to settle in, the team demonstrated grit and determination to beat an improving Orchard side.  Daniel performed particularly well at C and ensured he supported his team mates in tough conditions.  Evie, Shauna and Saskia scored some fantastic goals and missed narrowly many times!

St Patrick's vs St Peter's

                4-1

Harry H and Evie shone at GA and GS within the match and Harry A was around the court as much as possible aiding his team mates.  Saskia grew into her role at GK and also performed well!

The team are now through to the Kirklees Finals at Newsome High School next Tuesday, 22nd March.

Congratulations to all of the team!

SJF partnership netball champions 2016!

SJF Pyramid Qualifiers - 1/3/16

Two teams went to play in the St John Fishers Pyramid Qualifiers against St Joseph's and St Paulinus.  Both teams performed well but 'Team North' were victorious on the night, coming top of the group and will now go onto the St John Fishers Area Finals at Batley Sports and Tennis Centre on Tuesday 8th March.

Team North:                                        Team South:

Daniel J                                                 Sam R

Harry A                                                  Liam J

Harry H                                                  Patryk W

Evie F                                                   Laura W

Shauna T                                              Imogen D

Olivia J                                                  Maddie H

Saskia B                                               Sarah M

Game 1:

St Patrick's - Team North vs St Patrick's - Team South

                                        9-3

A good, competitive game from both teams.  Team North took an early lead from a fantastic shooting partnership between Daniel and Saskia and then Sam and Sarah grew in confidence for Team South.

In the second half of the game there were stand out performances from Evie and Harry A for Team North as they played in their preferred attacking positions, however they were against tough opposition from the determined Liam and Laura playing for Team South.  Excellent goals also scored by Maddie H for Team South.

Final score 9-3 to Team North.

Game 2:

St Patrick's Team North vs St Paulinus

                                       7-2

Another good team effort from Team North against a 'fluent' and 'quick' St Paulinus side.  Solid performances came from Olivia and Shauna where they supported others and settled into the game quickly.  Harry H scored some fantastic goals from difficult distances and supported his team mates throughout, well done!

Final score, 7-2 to St Patrick's Team North.

Game 3:

St Patrick's Team South vs St Joseph's

                                      2-2

A competitive game between the two sides that remained close until the final moments, when we conceded a goal to St Joesph's giving them a fair draw.  Patryk and Imogen settled into their roles more confidently and displayed determination throughout the match.  Well done!

Game 4:

St Patrick's Team South vs St Paulinus

                                        3-4

Another close contest that went down to the wire in the final moments when St Paulinus scored the winning goal.

Unfortunately St Joseph's had to leave the tournament early, therefore the points for their game against St Patrick's Team North were awarded to St Patrick's.

The overall winners with 9 out of a possible 9 points were St Patrick's Team North who have now qualified for the SJF Hi5 Finals next week.

Well done to all who participated and congratulations to Team North.

14/10/15 - Priestley House

Two teams went to play in a mini tournament at Priestley House and performed incredibly well.  After only six practices since the beginning of the school year we managed to win 2 of our matches against a well-drilled Priestley House

2/10/15 - Tournament at Priestley House

Harry H, Harry A, Daniel, Shauna and Evie participated in a High Five Netball tournament at Priestley House against Chickenley, Windmill, Field Lane and Priestley House.  St Patrick's played extremely well and were victorious coming 1st place in the competition.

St Pats 5 - 0 Field Lane

Harry H and Evie made a fantastic partnership as GS and GA and with brilliant support from Harry A as C, lots of goals were scored during the match.  Well done!

St Pats 2 - 0 Windmill

Again the team played well as a unit and supported one another well!  Daniel and Shauna were shooting this time and made a good partnership - well done!

St Pats 1 - 0 Priestley House

A well-fought win from St Patrick's against a good Priestley House side.  Harry A scored a fantastic goal from the edge of the shooting area to secure the win!

St Pats 1 - 0 Chickenley

Another good win for St Patrick's against an eager Chickenley side that made it difficult for our defenders.  Daniel stood strong and made some fantastic saves as GD - well done!
