North Kirklees Mini Red

Tennis Tournament 26th April 2016

We entered a Year 5 and a Year 4 team (2 boys and 2 girls in each), along with ten other schools at the short tennis event held at Batley Sports Centre.

Almost all of our players were inexperienced and although show potential, it was a real challenge for them.

Year 4 won their group by a wide margin and went into the "finals group" of three schools where we defeated Thornhill, 6 matches to 2 before playing St Joseph's in what was the deciding match.  After a thrilling come back, we managed a 4-4 tie.  After much deliberation on a "count-back", the two schools couldn't be separated and we have to meet them again in a play-off to decide  which team goes forward to represent our area in the West Yorkshire event.

Our Year 5 team had lots of close matches and often seemed to just miss out on the final point, losing 4-5 or 6-7.  They did really well on the much bigger courts in the tennis (fridge) centre.  They finished in 5th place and really enjoyed the event.

All of our players gave their best, encouraged each other and showed great sporting attitudes.  Well done to all.

Year 4 - Lily Mallinson, Isabel Toher, Quin Bentley, Joseph DIskin.

Year 5 - Scarlett Hartley, Liberty Pearson, Angus Sykes, Tony Dai.

Mini Tennis - Red and Orange Qualifier -

Batley Tennis Centre, 29th April 2015.

We entered teams of two boys/girls in the Year 4 and 5 tournament.

After an afternoon of excitement, both teams finished third in their respective events and received medals for their achievements.  The players all improved and really enjoyed playing at such an excellent venue.
