St Patrick's Catholic Primary Academy

Computing

We realise that pupils are becoming more and more aware of technology at a young age. Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in students' lives,. Therefore, it is our intent to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely.

At St Patrick's, Computing lessons are delivered by Junior Jam. It is our hope that educating pupils in topics such as music production or stop motion animation will develop new interests for them and that Junior Jam can hone this interest and that this may one day be something they choose to do as a career. We recognise that technology can allow pupils to share their learning in creative ways. We also understand the accessibility opportunities technology can provide for our pupils. We encourage the teachers to try and utilise computing across the whole curriculum to make learning creative and accessible, including interventions and SEND support.

We aim that all children will leave St Patrick's with confidence in their use of technology and the knowledge on how to use it safely.

We offer extra curricular opportunities in Computing. We currently provide a Computing afterschool club each week and we have student representatives called the Digital Leaders.
