St Patrick's Catholic Primary Academy

Geography

At St Patrick’s, it is our intent for the Geography curriculum to inspire our pupils to explore the world that we live in and its people. The teaching of this subject will equip our pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments together with a greater understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes and to encourage the children to show their respect for their local, national and international environment. We want our children to gain confidence and enjoy practical experiences through local fieldwork studies and in our wider community in Birstall and the wider Kirklees area which has a wealth of both geographical and historical features. Through our teaching, we intend to provoke thought, questions and to encourage children to discover answers to their own questions through exploration and research to enable them to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the world and their place in it.

Geography Curriculum Showcase - 19th October 2022

The children were given an opportunity to showcase their learning in Geography during our first half term. We were very proud of how well they articulated their knowledge for their parents and school community.
