URGENT: Isolation rules

17 October 2020 (by clare.moulding)

Good afternoon,

The Chair of Governors and I would like to strongly remind ALL parents that you must follow all guidelines regarding the isolation of your family from the moment you are concerned that you may have contracted COVID-19.

From the day you begin with any symptoms that lead you to book a COVID-19 test you must NOT send your child to school until you have the results that show it was negative. We have had two occasions this week where this has not happened; the child has continued to attend school, parents have been with others waiting to collect and the test has returned a positive result. Not only does this risk the closure of the class your child is in but the extended phase bubble, the staff who are in the child's class, the staff with the pupils as they leave and all the parents who are waiting to collect their child. In order to ensure we are protecting our whole school community and keeping our school open it is VITAL we all follow these rules so that the infection rate begins to go down and we limit the possibility of spreading the disease.

Both the DFE and Kirklees visual posters that I have shared, along with our risk assessment, state that a family must isolate if you have to book a test until the result is known. As a result of these incidents, staff will be advised to be extra cautious when speaking to parents at the beginning or end of the day, remaining at 2m social distance at all times. Should you have any reason to need to speak to a member of staff you are now asked to ring the school office who will pass your message on or ask the member of staff to ring you.

I advise all parents to take extra care to look after yourselves, wearing a face covering and keeping 2m social distance when dropping off and collecting your child.

With the kindest of regards

Mrs C Moulding (Headteacher) and Mrs C Wiles (Chair of Governors)
