The government have asked all schools to close from today

4 January 2021 (by clare.moulding)

Good evening,

It is with a very heavy heart and a huge amount of frustration that, following an emergency virtual meeting with our Chair of Governors, I have to confirm that St Patrick's Catholic Primary school is closed from today as a result of the government announcement. We must close to ALL pupils for two days - Tuesday and Wednesday while we send our a new application form for parents to apply for critical worker places, convene a governors meeting to allocate the places and inform parents they have a place for their child/children to begin on Thursday. The government have put schools who were to be open tomorrow in a dreadful position but we will do everything we can to make the necessary arrangements as quickly and safely as possible. Tomorrow morning I have convened an emergency meeting with the Chair of Governors, we will send out a letter and new application form at 11am which must be completed and emailed to the addresses on the letter by midnight on Tuesday. On Wednesday we have a governors meeting at 11am to 1pm to agree the offer of critical worker places using the following criteria:

  1. Vulnerable pupils
  2. Pupils where both parents are critical workers and not working from home.
  3. Pupils who have one parent who is a critical worker and does not have another parent available at home.

There will be an EYFS group of 12 places only, a KS1 group of 12 places only, Y3 and 4 group of 12 places only and Y5 and 6 group of 12 places only. I will send a letter and separate application form through the school APP tomorrow. A further letter will be sent regarding the new remote learning arrangements which will begin on Thursday, the content of which will used by both pupils at home and in school. Parents will be informed of the critical worker places by email and telephone call between 1:30 and 3:30pm on Wednesday.

With kind regards always

Mrs Clare Moulding (Headteacher)

Sent with full agreement and support from Mrs Claire Wiles (Chair of Governors)
