Lawrence Batley Theatre Wellbeing Project

18 January 2021 (by Jenna Smith (jenna.smith))

Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield are currently closed to the public under Lockdown restrictions but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still busy trying to create creativity alive and well in our town.

January is a really tricky time for a lot of people and maybe exacerbated by the current climate, lockdowns etc. so they wanted to share with you their January Wellbeing Project – a free calendar of online content supporting happiness and wellbeing to get 2021 off to a positive start. The first two weeks of content can be viewed here now with new content coming each weekday: https://www.thelbt.org/january/

Every weekday they will be sharing content on their social media channels and to our mailing list in the following format:

Movement Monday (up to 10mins) - setting you up for the week with movement for the mind led by Kevin Edward Turner, Co-Artistic Director of Company Chameleon, Manchester’s leading Dance Theatre Company.

Sing a long Tuesdays (up to 5 mins) - satirical songs to make you smile performed by local artist and LBT favourite Richard Sykes.

Well-being Wednesdays (5 – 10 mins)– short meditation sessions based on a different theme each week led by Mindfulness & Movement Coach Lizzie Wiggs.

Theatre Thursdays (10 – 15mins) - inspiring and uplifting monologues directed and performed by professional theatre practitioners

Foodie Fridays  - healthy and wholesome recipes for the weekend created by  Asma Khan – the first British Chef to appear on Chef’s Kitchen.

These may benefit both children and adults at home.

We hope you find this resource useful.
