Final week in school14 July 2021 (by clare.moulding) |
Final week in school:
I wanted to let parents know that the current Risk Assessment in school will not be changed for the final week. Any sports days that take place in the final week will have the same protective measures in place, cleaning of equipment and bubbles remaining separate which also means unfortunately we will not be inviting parents in to the grounds during the school day – we are also being fair to all other classes, both younger and older, who were not able to have their parents to watch for their sports days over the last couple of weeks. We will however put pictures on the class pages so that you can look at them with your child.
The updated government guidance for schools, which has only just been released, states it is for after Step Four but for implementation in the Autumn term and that we continue with current measures until our Summer holidays. Many schools across the country finish on different days from this Friday onwards so immediate implementation of this guidance is only for ‘Summer Schools’ in secondary schools and then in the next term. Importantly, we also have to keep in mind the local situation with regard COVID infection rates and I have been informed that currently Birstall infection rates are extremely high, the - at least three times higher (and rising) than any other North Kirklees area with 75 confirmed positive cases reported in just the Birstall area over the last week - I know we felt that in our class closures last week. It continues to be extremely high this week also.
There will be needed changes to the Risk Assessment and day to day workings for September, so school begins to feel much more like pre-COVID times. I will be going through the newly released extensive school guidance, updating the risk assessment and getting that information out to parents over the next couple of weeks – so PLEASE keep your eye on the APP and your emails for the updates. There will be some changes in place now that have worked well, improved provision for pupils, that we will choose to keep for next year.
Kind Regards
