Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Unit – Please take note of this important information6 September 2021 (by Nicola Blanchfield (nicola.blanchfield2)) |
Specific information for Nursery and Reception pupils
We hope you have all had a lovely summer! We are looking forward to welcoming the children into the EYFS Unit over the coming weeks.
Please take note of this important information:
Reception pupil dinners
Parents are free to choose for their child to have a school dinner or bring a packed lunch. Regardless of choice, the children eat their dinner in the hall. The school’s two week menu can be viewed on the school website following this link: https://www.stpatricksbirstall.co.uk/ourparents/ourschoolmeals
School meals are provided by Kirklees School Meals Service and are prepared on the school premises.
We will make a note of the children’s initial choices on their first day, you don’t need to notify school of this beforehand.
We ask that two weeks' notice is given if your child chooses to go onto, or come off school dinners.
Fantastic Friday – Children who usually bring a packed lunch, may have a school dinner each Friday. Please email the office if you would like your child to take advantage of this: office.stpatricksbirstall@kirkleeseducation.uk
Pupils in Reception, Class 1, Class 1/2 and Class 2 will automatically receive Government funded Universal Free School Meals, however if you believe you are entitled to free school meals PLEASE still apply as this is of benefit to your child and the school.
Nursery Visits
As expected, parents will not be able to accompany their child on their visit. Our updated risk assessment allows for parents to now enter the school grounds, but not the actual building. I know you may find this concerning, however, we did find last year that the visits were more successful with parents not present.
AM Nursery pupils will visit on their allocated day 9.15 – 10.15am
PM Nursery pupils will visit on their allocated day 1.15 – 2.15pm
Please bring children to the front pedestrian gate where they will be greeted by members of the EYFS team. You will collect them from the same gate at the end of their visit.
The school day
Morning Nursery Session: 8.55am to 11.55am
Afternoon Nursery Session: 12:20pm to 3.20pm
Reception: 8.55am – 3.20pm (lunchtime 11.30am – 12.30pm)
Start of session/day arrangements
Reception & AM Nursery:
At 8:45am the pedestrian gate will open for access to the playground, one adult will be able to enter into the playground to look after their child/ren until the bell goes at 8:55am. The pupils will then line up in their class lines and parents are to leave through the driveway gate, creating a one-way system. Mrs Moulding kindly requests that parents make sure children do NOT USE THE FITNESS TRAIL or TRIM TRAIL (climbing equipment) before and after school for Health and Safety - insurance reasons.
PM Nursery:
Please bring children to the front pedestrian gate for 12.20pm where they will be greeted and brought into school by a member of the EYFS team.
End of session/day arrangements
All pupils will be collected directly from the EYFS Unit side door at the end of the session/day. The unit is at the rear of the building and can be accessed using the stairs on the right hand side of the playground. It is the third door you will come to and is clearly marked. Which door you collect your child from will change in due course, but you will be informed of the change prior to it happening.
Many thanks,
The EYFS Team
