Parent Survey - Nursery Provision27 September 2021 (by Nicola Blanchfield (nicola.blanchfield2)) |
Due to the changes introduced by the government, we have seen a decline in Nursery admission at St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School over the past few years since the changes were introduced. We therefore need to carefully consider our nursery provision moving forward.
We want to make sure we have the right provision for our families and we would like to understand the views of past, current and future parents as we make these important decisions. Our nursery is taught by two qualified teachers, a Nursery Nurse and an Educational Teaching Assistant. It is an essential part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (the curriculum for younger children) and works alongside our Reception class.
What were the government changes?
Most working parents of 3 and 4 year olds became eligible for an extra 15 hours of free childcare a week, term time. Added to their current universal entitlement of 15 hours, this means that their free early education entitlement increased to a total of 30 hours a week, term time.
Who is eligible for +15 hours?
You can check your eligibility and find out more by visiting the following website: https://www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare
The considerations are, for children to attend either:
- 30 hours – all day Monday to Friday (9am – 3pm)
- 30 hours – Monday to Thursday (8.55am – 3.20pm) and Friday 8.55am – 11.55am
- 15 hours – all day Monday, all day Tuesday plus Wednesday.
- 15 hours – Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and all day Friday
- 15 hours – AM sessions Monday to Friday
- 15 hours – PM sessions Monday to Friday
What do I need to do next?

We will be meeting with the Governing Board and diocesan representatives shortly and your views will form an important part of our conversations with them. Your answers will only be used within our school and not shared with any third parties. It is important to note these are only considerations at this stage and it might well be that no changes are made to the current provision/offer.
