Confirmation of arrangements for First Holy Communion2 May 2022 (by clare.moulding) |
Good afternoon,
Following receiving 21 replies regarding your opinions on the arrangements for the celebration of First Holy Communion, I can now confirm that Father Eamonn and I have agreed that we will have one Mass at 11am on Saturday 21st May at St Patrick's Church. We received 16 votes for one Mass and only 5 votes for two Masses. I know that you will want to confirm your family arrangements so I hope you do not mind a message over the bank holiday.
This means that, as explained in the original letter, there will be less room for family and friends to celebrate in church. We will have 34 children celebrating on the day and only 28 benches so the larger benches will have two candidates and their families. After Mass on Saturday evening, I worked out how many people can fit on the smallest of the benches and all families must follow that to be fair. This means that each candidate can have 6 or 7 family and friends only on the bench depending how closely you wish to sit. The Mass will be streamed so that any family members who cannot be there in church, can still take part virtually.
We are very much looking forward to having the whole group celebrate this important sacrament together. This will be the first time for many years, as prior to the pandemic families could choose one of four Masses over two weekends and did not have one Mass all together.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to get in touch, either by email or by phoning the school office from tomorrow.
I hope you have had a lovely bank holiday weekend.
Kind regards
Clare Moulding (Headteacher)
