Good afternoon,
Following a full Academy Council meeting today where the school response to the predicted heat wave was discussed, could I please ask the following:
- ENSURE your child/ren have suncream applied BEFORE they come to school. (School staff are not able to apply it);
- They have plenty of water with them and we will ensure the water bottles are refilled throughout the day;
- They can wear their PE kits or light fitting school uniform, whichever you feel is most appropriate for your child;
- They MUST have a sunhat that can offer some shield and protection when they go outside.
We will ensure the school has plenty of ventilation to maintain an appropriate temperature wherever possible inside and only go outside for short times. We have been advised by the DFE not to do outdoor PE or strenuous activity outside over the two days, if we are in an area of extreme heat - this will also include football provision at dinnertime.
