St Patrick's Catholic Primary Academy

Good afternoon,

I have updated the school website to include further information for Maths. At St Patrick's, we recognise the importance for fluency and mental skills in mathematics to support the children's rapid recall of key facts. As with our knowledge organisers on each class page of the website, we have now developed key instant recall facts (KIRFs) for Maths. Each half term, each year group will have a target to focus on for an area of maths. This could be from learning number bonds or multiplication tables. These will be covered in school as part of our daily maths learning, but your support from home is always encouraged. Learning KIRFs shouldn’t be time-consuming. They can be practised anywhere, such as in the car, walking to school or at the dinner table. The most important thing is facilitating regular practice.

Please visit your child’s class page on the school website by clicking ‘Our School’ – ‘Our Classes’ or click the link below to direct you to the maths page for further information for this half term: https://www.stpatricksbirstall.co.uk/ourschool/our-curriculum-1/mathematics/maths-key-instant-recall-facts

Kind regards,

Miss Gott
