KS2 CROSS COUNTRY - TUESDAY 8th OCTOBER

4 October 2024 (by Fiona Abbott (fiona.abbott))

Good afternoon

Our KS2 Cross Country runners have been working incredibly hard in our training sessions every Wednesday and Thursday.  We are over the moon as we have a record breaking 83 runners from St Patrick's!  Well done children!

Just a polite reminder to all parents who have children running in Tuesday's KS2 Cross Country Event at Batley Sports Centre:

Please can you ensure your child has appropriate footwear (trainers/astroturf boots/football boots) PE kit, joggers/shorts/base layer if cold and a bottle of water.  Please dress appropriately for the weather.

When you arrive could you please bring your child to meet staff at the top of the football playing fields (at the back of the sports centre) this is where all the children will be waiting with St Patrick's staff until their race begins.

This is a large scale event with 83 children participating – with this in mind we are unfortunately unable to support transporting children to the event on this occasion.

We encourage parents to park on the main road – Upper Batley Lane wherever possible as the main car park will get incredibly busy.

Please can you also ensure your child has been to the toilet before they arrive.  If your child needs the toilet during their holding time then we will need to ask parents to support with this due to the number of children taking part.

All children must return back to staff waiting at the ‘holding area’ at the top of the playing fields after their race.  Staff will then tick them off the register and dismiss them to their responsible adult – thank you for your support with this.  Please can parents be polite and considerate whilst staff register the children back at 'base' ready to dismiss them.  This process cannot be rushed due to the number of children and safeguarding procedures.

Children in Years 5 and 6 do not need to arrive before 4:30pm (at the earliest) as their race time will be after 5pm.

Kind regards

Mrs F Abbott
