West Yorkshire Cross Country Finals - Thursday 6th March

28 February 2025 (by Fiona Abbott (fiona.abbott))

Good afternoon

Congratulations again to our 25 cross runners in Thursday's West Yorkshire Cross Country Finals.  25 runners is a St Patrick's record at this event so we are immensely proud of you all and all of our runners who have participated in the earlier rounds.

A huge thank you to all the parents/grandparents who have offered to transport their child to the event and those who have offered to transport others also.  If you have offered transport then I have put a child/children with you who are also in your child's year group so you can leave after their race.

Please can all children bring a packed lunch to school as they will eat at 10:45am in the school hall.  If you are transporting your child and would prefer them to eat on route to Temple Newsame then that's absolutely fine.

All parents who are transporting their child need to be at the school office at 11:15am where they will be dismissed.  Please can all parents meet myself and Mrs Moulding at the Kirklees Registration Tent (stewards will direct you there) by 12:15pm.  All children will be given a number and a Kirklees team top to run in.

For those children in Year 6 who wish to take their child later then can they please let me know before Tuesday so I am aware and can arrange a meeting point with yourselves.

All children should be dressed appropriately with their school PE kit and appropriate layers worn whilst they are waiting to run (there was a delay last year).  Footwear should be appropriate (trainers/running shoes or football boots can be worn)  All children must have a water bottle with them.

All children will be asked to go to the toilet before they leave as it will be up to parents to take them upon arrival.

Once your child has ran their race then they will meet Mrs Abbott who will dismiss children back from the meeting point established upon arrival.   Please can parents be patient when we are doing this as this is a huge event with over 500 runners.

I'm really looking forward to Thursday - so many of the children have been working incredibly hard at cross country training every Wednesday and Thursday.

Any questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch via the school office.

Kind regards

Mrs F Abbott
